Program Information

Education

Work Ready partners with Chattanooga State Community College to offer satellite classes in Early Childhood at the Work Ready offices. Interns will complete the following courses, which take approximately seven weeks each to complete:

  • Intro into Early Childhood Education
  • Safe, Healthy Learning Environments
  • Family Dynamics
  • Curriculum

Prior to starting classes, our case managers will walk interns through the financial aid process at Chatt State, helping them to complete paperwork and file their applications.

Interns who have child care placements and have completed at least two of the above classes will be eligible for additional financial incentives through Child Care WAGE$® Tennessee.

For those students interested in the construction field, Chatt State offers a high-quality Heavy Equipment Operator Training program with expert instruction and hands-on experience, certified by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER). This six-week comprehensive curriculum covers all aspects of earth-moving heavy equipment operations and safety procedures. The NCCER classroom curriculum is reinforced with hands-on application sessions in the field. Students are also offered the opportunity to enroll in the school’s Building Construction Technology Programs at the Construction Career Center. The program’s goal is to teach students fundamental skills in carpentry, residential electrical wiring, residential plumbing, foundation methods, masonry, block work, and brick laying.

The program also partners with the college to enroll students in the Commercial Truck Driving Program, a seven-week certificate program requiring 222 clock hours for completion. Designed to meet the needs of the trucking industry, the program emphasizes the basic training principles and skills required to operate commercial motor vehicles of all types under all driving conditions. Students receive specialized training on the safe operation of trailers, including loading, unloading, backing, and docking. They also receive classroom instruction on all federal, state, and local laws. Graduates are prepared to pass the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) exam for Tennessee.

Additionally, to provide training for students enrolled in Customer Service, the program offers access to Google Career Certificates through Chatt State. These are job-ready programs designed to equip learners with professional competencies in high-demand fields, including customer service and IT Support. Each program is virtual, created by Google experts, and designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs in popular and growing tech-based fields. The training equips learners with innovative skills tailored to the demands of the modern digital landscape.

Prior to starting classes, our case managers guide students through the financial aid process at Chatt State, helping them complete paperwork and file applications. Those who are eligible are assisted with applying for TN ReConnect and WIOA funding to cover tuition costs.

Testimonials

Hear from our community

Work Ready helped me through a transition in my life. It helped me get back on the path to realizing what my initial goals were: working with children. I didn’t know about any of the college resources so without Work Ready, I wouldn’t be in college at all.
Danaye Rainey
Former Intern
I would’ve never thought about going to school because I was in so much debt. Work Ready told me, “We’ll help you through all of it!” Even when I wanted to give up they pushed me through. They gave me the best environment to learn about child care and to go to college and I can’t thank them enough.
Elizabeth Johnson
Former Intern
Work Ready helped me a lot with getting my transcripts, sorting my financial aid and tuition, and just gave me a lot of resources about getting into college. I am ready and excited to see where I can go from here.
